Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy(MLD) is a manual therapeutic method of stimulating the movement of fluid in the tissues of the body. The technique used is a gentle, rhythmic skin stretch movement in the direction of the lymph flow and is completely different from other forms of massage. When applied competently it encourages the lymph flow through the lymph vessels and nodes, enhancing the filtering process which in turn encourages the healing process. It has shown to be a safe and effective decongestive therapy useful for pre and post opererative procedures, minimising scar tissue, bruising and swelling, acne and other skin complaints, sinusitis, headaches, tonsillitis, cosmetic surgery and as a general de-tox and much more. MLD is a common practice in European hospitals and is now becoming well known in our own country for its effectiveness. This course can be chosen as an HLT50307 elective or is a stand alone unit in its own right. It is not a pre-requisite to be a massage therapist to undertake this course Course content includesThis course teaches the student the basic four strokes of MLD and their application in specific sequences to the whole body. Practical skill is combined with a thorough insight into the lymphatic system and associated pathology and the application of MLD within that framework The course is based on the original Vodder Technique Cost of course$ 880 Next course13th July 2010
